The Reverb Syndicate are back, after two long years of top secret work at Syndicate HQ! Join us May 8th at the Elmdale Tavern for a night of spy-fi, surf-rock, go-go dancing, and maybe even a few new tunes!

Joining us for this special evening will be Bloomistry.

2010-02-25: New Shows!

This just in from Syndicate HQ: The Reverb Syndicate have booked two shows for 2010, with more to come.  Details are:

2010-05-08: Ottawa: The Elmdale Tavern

2010-06-05: Toronto: Cadillac Lounge (Great Lakes Surf Battle)

Stay tuned for more!

2010-01-10: Mission Return!

This just in from Syndicate HQ: Following Agent Vic 20's recent stint overseas (which was followed by a brief mission by Agent Sovtek, who succesfully crossed the Iron Curtain in hot pursuit of one of Europe's most dreaded henchmen), The Reverb Syndicate have finally regrouped, and are preparing for their grand return.

Hard at work in the lab, the four hardest-working spies in showbiz are currently working on new material and booking shows for 2010.

Watch this space, and stay tuned for updates!  We'll have some exciting news in the coming months!

2009-04-20: The Overseas Mission Continues...

While Agent Vic 20 remains overseas on his secret reconnaissance mission, The Reverb Syndicate are hard at work in their top secret lab, preparing for his return later this year.  Stay tuned...

2009-01-15: R.I.P., Number 6

The prisoner has finally escaped. Forever... As a tribute, here's a download of Escape From The Village.

Be seeing you!

2008-10-04: UK Tour Photos

Well, we did it. The Reverb Syndicate have returned from their overseas mission, successful. While we can't divulge the top secret findings of our trip, we can say that we had an amazing time travelling around the UK. We met incredible people, played with some incredible bands at some incredible venues, and all around, had an incredible time.

We've declassified some photos, just to prove we were there (click on the slideshow to go to our photo album):

Agent Vic 20, for the time being, remains overseas, keeping an eye on developments. So it's back to the lab for The Reverb Syndicate, where they'll be quietly plotting their next secret mission!!!

2008-09-15: UK Tour!!!

Yes, you read that right. The Reverb Syndicate have gone global!

HQ has intercepted some secret code emanating from somewhere in Great Britain. Unsure of what it all means, Commodore 64 has decided to take the unprecendented step of deploying The Reverb Syndicate overseas to investigate. Starting in Scotland and working their way down south, The Reverb Syndicate will be deployed on five top secret missions in the coming two weeks, in an attempt to decode these top secret messages.

While normally such missions would remain top secret, HQ has declassified the following dates. Catch The Reverb Syndicate as they save the world from evil menaces here:

2008-09-19: Edinburgh: Henry's Cellar Bar with The Nukes

2008-09-20: Glasgow: Blackfriars (Shout Bamalama)

2008-09-21: Edinburgh: The Bongo Club (Scottish Hobo Society show with Live Burlesque Show)

2008-09-26: Brighton: The Hobgoblin with Los Fantasticos

2008-09-27: London: The 12 Bar Club with The Eyelids and Sinnerstar

2008-07-22: Beware the Warm Beer!

Syndicate HQ has intercepted a disturbing message from the forces of evil. It appears that a nefarious plot has been hatched to spoil summer cottage weekends.  Details of the plot are still fuzzy but it would appear that something will be added to local beer supplies that will prevent them from reaching a cool temperature no matter how long they are chilled.

As the boys in the lab have not yet managed to decode exactly where and when this threat will materialize, HQ has taken drastic measures. The Reverb Syndicate are being reunited for the the first time in over six months, and will perform live in major city centers across Ontario and Quebec.  It is hoped that their fusion of surf rock and go-go music will be reason enough for would-be cottage goers to stay in the city, avoiding any unnecessary contact with the lukewarm beverages and any fun-ruining consequences the warm beer may have.

Agent Vic 20 has been briefed on the mission and is planning his return to Ottawa from his current assignment in our UK offices as we speak.

Tour dates are as follows...

22 Aug - Toronto @ The Cadillac Lounge w/ The Von Drats!
23 Aug - Sudbury @ The Townehouse Tavern w/ The Havocs
27 Aug - Montreal @ L’Esco w/ The Hell Hounds
30 Aug - Ottawa @ The Rainbow w/ Gunsmoke and The Havocs

More updates as they are made available.

2008-07-01: It's July, So Why Not Some Hockey!

The Reverb Syndicate have entered Hockey Night In Canada's theme song contest with a track that might be familiar to some of you. Check out our entry, "Rumble At The Rink", and vote for us at this link! You can hear the track by clicking this video:

2008-05-02: Update from Syndicate HQ

Things have been quiet in the Syndicate lab lately but we are pleased to provide you with the following updates:

Reginald Goodthrust (AKA Agent Ampeg / AKA Jeff Welch) recently broke radio silence to join Kevin McGowan of "It Came From Canada" fame to talk about obscure Canadian rock.  Goodthrust co-hosts the latest podcast, dips into his record collection with cuts from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, and even shares a few stories from his musical past.  Download the latest podcast hereItCameFromCanada.com is the online home of the best Canadian music you've never heard and is the brain child of Kevin McGowan and Beau Levitt.

It has been three months since we last heard from Agent Sovtek (AKA Victor Tremolo), but finally the UK Syndicate offices have broken the required three months of radio silence.  While the information on his mission while overseas are considered top secret, we can report that he alive and well and very happy.  He should be returning home for a visit later this summer.  Shows are being booked, and we hope to update you more on this in the near future.

Finally we are happy to offer our congratuations to our good friends the Evil Farm Children.   EFC will be perfoming on the Roots Stage on July 4th at this year's Blues Fest.  We encourage you to drop by and see this outstanding Ottawa band.

2008-01-14: Saying Goodbye to a Good Man While Helping Some Good Women

Commodore 64 has declassified the following information for consumption:

After two years of service, over 30 exciting missions, and two successful albums, it is with a sad heart that I regret to inform you all that effective February 4th 2008,  The Reverb Syndicate's Agent Vic 20 (AKA Victor Tremolo) will be temporarily re-assigned to the Syndicate's UK offices for an undisclosed period of time.  But before we let him leave the country, The Reverb Syndicate will be deployed on a couple of worthy missions.

Most notably, on Sat Feb 2nd, The Ottawa Roller Derby League presents "SURF and TURF 2008: An Evening of Garage, Rockabilly, and Surf" at the Rainbow Bistro (76 Murray Street in the Market, $7 cover).  Members of the National Capital Region are encouraged to attend this opportunity to wish Vic all the best in his travels, while the Syndicate loan their talents to support a very special group of ladies.  Proceeds from the show will go to support the Derby League's venue fees.

Friday Feb 1st also sees the band return to Oshawa's The Velvet Elvis.  More details can be found here.

While Victor Tremolo's temporary departure will slow down operations for Ottawa's #1 Spy-Fi band, it will not spell the end of The Reverb Syndicate.  Already, events are being put into motion that will make 2008 a very special year.  The band is still riding the success of "Operation: JetSet!" and new album "Sputnik A-Go-Go" is already starting to pick up sales internationally (it's also now available on iTunes, for those who are digitally-inclined).  While the Syndicate's performances will be fewer, they hope make these events larger and more spectacular in nature.

We hope to see you in February!

Signing off,
The Commodore.

2008-01-08: iTunes A-Go-Go

Sputnik A-Go-Go is now available via your local iTunes store. Check it out! (Canada link, USA link)

2008-01-02: Upcoming Shows

2007-12-20: Happy Holidays from TRS!

The Reverb Syndicate wish everyone a spy-tacular Christmas holiday! We'll be back in the new year with a couple of shows in early February, so check back in early 2008 for details!

Our new record Sputnik A-Go-Go is out now, and is available in fine Ottawa music stores, online at CDBaby.com, and directly from the band via good old fashioned mail. Follow the links for more details!

Here are some videos from our CD release show in November:

Thanks again to everyone who's supported us throughout 2007. We've had a blast.

Be seeing you...

2007-12-01: It's Time to Turn Around when the Yellow Line Vanishes

Well, we've dog-sledded across the Arctic, and watched a Trans-Siberian Sunset, but unfortunately The Reverb Syndicate just couldn't compete with the great Canadian shield's winter weather last night. After about 150km of driving from Ottawa to Sudbury, the band decided that road conditions just weren't good enough to continue (and get to the gig on time). Our deepest apologies to those who came out to see us - we'll hopefully make it back sometime soon!

2007-11-25: Wow!

The Reverb Syndicate would like to extend a huge thanks to everyone who came out to our filled-to-capacity CD release show last night. The show was a great success, and we hope that you all had as much fun as we did! Sincere apologies to those who couldn't get in...

Our new album Sputnik A-Go-Go is now available for $10 at our shows, this website, and from our good friends at Compact Music (both downtown Ottawa and The Glebe stores) and Sounds Unlikely.

Agent Ampeg will be deployed to CFRA 580AM this evening to interview the Middle Aged Bald Guys (Talkin' Rock'n'Roll) (that's the show name). Tune in between 7 and 9pm tonight to listen.

Finally, we have one last show left the year: we'll be in Sudbury at The Townehouse on Friday Nov 30 playing with our good pals The Havocs!

2007-11-20: This Saturday... Sputnik has Landed.

It was long, hard, road to get where we are today, involving evil secret agents from the West, clandestine money transfers, frozen accounts, flaming restaurants, and a case of mistaken identity.  But even all that could not stop us.  The Reverb Syndicate and The Mighty 91.3 CKCU are proud to present our new album, Sputnik A-Go-Go!

In honour of this momentous occasion, we will be hosting a celebration at Irene's Pub on Saturday night.  Helping us with the festivities will be Ottawa's Evil Farm Children and The Bible All-Stars.  Also appearing will be Soviet Sisters Elite Go-Go Squad to ensure that you dance the night away.

To maximize exposure, Commodore 64 has fired up the Syndicate's PR juggernaut.  The Reverb Syndicate is featured in the current issue of Upfront Ottawa Magazine.  As well, look for features on your favourite super-agents in Wednesday's Sun and on Thursday in the Citizen and on CBC's All In A Day afternoon radio show (interview scheduled for around 4:30 PM - listen here).  ChartAttack.com will also run a feature on the band later this week.

Here are the show details:
November 24: Irene's Pub (885 Bank St), CD Release show with The Bible All-Stars and Evil Farm Children.
Doors at 9:00 PM, cover is $6 at the door.

We hope you can share this awesome evening of music espionage.

2007-11-07: Ontario A-Go-Go!

When we last left our heroes, they were relaxing on a beach, martini in hand, fresh from a gruelling victory over the dreaded enemy force known as Top 40 music. But just as the victorious agents begin to enjoy some well-earned relaxation, there comes a new mission and with it a new album from The Reverb Syndicate.

This time around we find the band deep in space to launch its latest offering, Sputnik A-Go-Go. The new disc is a collection of ten Syndicate originals, combining the spy/surf of 2006’s Operation: Jet Set! with theremin-laced, double-picking surf rock from the depths of space!

To celebrate the release of this 10-song portable go-go party, Commodore 64 has commissioned a short mini tour of Ontario highlighted by an exciting CD release party on November 24th at Irene's Pub.

The Ontario A-Go-Go Tour:

November 15 in Toronto @ Cadillac Lounge, with Lipstick Machine

November 16 in London @ The Alex P Keaton, with Lipstick Machine

November 17 in Oshawa @ The Velvet Elvis, with The Diableros and Lipstick Machine

November 24 in Ottawa @ Irene's Pub, CD Release show with The Bible All-Stars and Evil Farm Children (Poster)

November 30 in Sudbury @ The Townehouse, with The Havocs

Hope to see you there!

2007-10-20: Stay Tuned...

The Reverb Syndicate has been busy at work in the lab, and we've got some exciting news coming in the next few weeks...

In the meantime, check out some upcoming tour dates across Ontario.

2007-10-09: Blacksheep Update

Syndicate Headquarters understands that when a challenge is issued, you have to respond.  When the forces of evil, terrified of our message of musical liberation, conspire to have three very successful bands compete for your attention on the same night as a Syndicate show, you've got to bring out the big guns!

As a result, The Reverb Syndicate's show with My Dad vs Yours and Malcolm Bauld at the Black Sheep Inn this Saturday night is FREE!  Yup, you heard us.  FREE!

What's more, if you would like to head out to Wakefield for the show but don't have a ride, no problem.  Working in cooperation with MDVY, we are proud to offer transportation via The Bolshevik Bus!   For a mere $10 we will pick you up in front of  La Bottega
Nicastro (64 George St.) in the Market at 8:15pm and drop you off after the show at the same spot (around 1am).  The bus will be hosted by the Syndicate's own Soviet Sisters, and rumored intelligence suggests that treats may be served!

Walk-ons to the bus are welcome but seating is limited so email us by Thursday afternoon to guarantee a seat. Viva la surf revolution!

2007-10-02: Busses to Wakefield?

As you may or may not know, the long awaited match up of My Dad vs Yours against The Reverb Syndicate takes place in Wakefield on October 13 at the Blacksheep Inn.  This is a show a long time in the making, it's free, and already, we have some requests for a ride share program.

Therefore, we have organized a bus trip to the 'sheep for that night.  This is great as you can save yourself finding a DD for the night.   It also is an opportunity to get out to one of the coolest clubs in the area for those who don't have regular access to a car.

Cost will be $10 for the bus package and that should get you from a designated pick up and drop off spot for the night, and there won't be any charge for the show (which is free).   Email us by this Thursday and if there is enough interest we'll try and put it together.

2007-09-12: Rock and Roll Sandwiches!

Syndicate HQ has just declassified the following information:  It turns out that our heroes are going to be the Reverb-laced meat in a garage rock sandwich this Friday night (Sep 14) at Zaphod Beeblebrox.  The Reverb Syndicate will be playing a set between our good friends from Sudbury, The Havocs (garage and soul with a little MC5 for good measure) and Ottawa's rock and roll masters, The Setbacks (vintage amps fuelled by Labatt 50 and set to "rock").

It is The Setback's last show for the foreseeable future so you know they'll be busting out the their now legendary stage antics. Will they show us the "Totem Pole of Rock" or will it be "the many arms of the guitar god"? Come to the show and see.

Doors open at 8:00 PM, and the rock begins at 8:30. Cover is $7 at the door.

In other news, The Reverb Syndicate will be making their Montreal debut on Saturday September 22 at Le Quai des Brumes, opening for the uber-talented Surferigno.  Friends in La Belle Province will have an opportunity hear our songs translated into perfect and eloquent French.  The stage banter?  Not so much!
Hope to see you out and about!

2007-09-01: Upcoming Shows and a Little Whisy Fun!

We have just been given permission to declassify the following information:

The Reverb Syndicate has been dispatched to play two shows in September.  Intelligence from Reverb HQ indicates a September 14th show at Zaphod Bebblebrox in Ottawa (with The Setbacks & The Havocs), and another show at Le Quai des Brumes in Montreal on September 22nd (with Suferigno). More info here.

In addition, it seems that spies working for a foreign whisky firm have infiltrated Reverb HQ!  They obtained top-secret information on the non-vodka drinking habits of Agents Ampeg and Tremolo at the recent Dancing in the Streets Festival.  More information can be found here.

2007-08-14: Breaking Radio Silence... At last!

The Reverb Syndicate will be donating their time and twang to the Max Keeping-hosted Dancing in the Streets festival for cancer survivors.  Bank Street in the Glebe (between 1st and 5th Ave) will be closed all day Saturday August 18th for celebration and music.  The Reverb Syndicate will be performing on the main stage at 3:30 PM  (with the Soviet Sisters elite Go-Go Squad), but there will be music all day long, including some amazing bands like the Fifty Men, The Sadies and Ashley McIsaac.  Best of all, it's all-ages and is completely free!  We're sure there will be some people on hand to take donations, but other than that, it's all free.

We will have more to announce in the coming months as our fall looks to be filling up fairly quickly.

2007-07-22: Bluesfest Footage Declassified

Agent Ampeg has been busy in the lab putting together some spy footage of our recent Bluesfest show!  The Reverb Syndicate has decided to declassify portions of this footage, including:

A video diary of the day's events

    Live Videos

    Photos

Just a reminder that The Reverb Syndicate will be deployed to the Dancing in the Streets festival on Bank St in the Glebe on August 18th.  Show time is 3:30pm, and there will be loads of other bands and activities going on all day, including Ashley MacIsaac, The Sadies, and The Fiftymen!

2007-07-07: Whoah!!!

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at Bluesfest - we can't even begin to describe how much fun we had!  We'll be putting video, photos, etc, up on line shortly, so check back soon!  For those of you who couldn't get ahold of our CD on Friday, we've now taken some more down to the CD tent at Bluesfest.

In other news, The Reverb Syndicate will be deployed to the "Dancing in the Street with Cancer Survivors" event on Bank St in the Glebe on August 18th.  Show time is 3:30pm, and there will be loads of other bands and activities going on all day!

2007-05-30: Two Important Messages from Reverb HQ!

First, the Reverb Syndicate plan to make good on their promises to the GTA and make up for their only canceled show in Syndicate history.  TRS will be taking part in the "Great Lakes Surf Battle" this Saturday night (Jun 2) at the infamous Cadillac Lounge (1296 Queen St. West).  We promise there will be no crippling winter storms closing the 401 or evil hit-and-run specialists putting band members' vehicles in the ditch.  We will show up.  Liquor will flow.  And surf rock will be dispensed in liberal doses throughout the night by an outstanding cast of musicians.  The 'Syndicate hit the stage around 9:00pm.  Cover is $5 or so.

Second, it's time for a pop quiz!  Which one of these names does not belong with the others:

Bob Dylan, The White Stripes, Kanye West, The Reverb Syndicate, George Clinton, INXS, The Joel Plaskett Emergency

If you said Kanye West,  you're sort of correct - he doesn't play guitar.  However, if you said "hey that's a trick question - they all belong together, since they're all playing the Ottawa Bluesfest", you're even more correct!  That's right, The Reverb Syndicate have been added to this year's legendary Ottawa music festival.  Come see The Reverb Syndicate hold their own with international superstars through the power of surf music (and go-go dancers) at 6pm, Friday July 6th on the Rogers Stage.  Get your tickets for the Ottawa Bluesfest today!!!!

2007-05-13: The Reverb Syndicate Take Manhattan

The Reverb Syndicate have just arrived back from their first proper international outing to save the world!  That's right, with the Soviet Sisters in hand, The Reverb Syndicate succesfully defended the great New York City against the evils of BF-6 and his contaminated vodka!  A video montage, put together by Reginald Goodthrust, can be found here, and pictures of the gang in action can be found here.  Enjoy!

2007-04-18: Bluesfest & Other Shows

Exciting news! The Reverb Syndicate will be playing this year's Ottawa Bluesfest on Fri, July 6th, at 6pm.

Before that, however, we have two great shows lined up: New York City (May 5) and the Great Lakes Surf Battle in Toronto (June 2). Check out the Missions page for details!

2007-03-04: Some Down-Time

The Reverb Syndicate are heading back to the lab for the next couple of months to work on some new gadgetry... We've got some shows coming up in May & June, though, so check out the Missions page for details.

Thanks to everyone who made it out to our Ottawa and Oshawa shows, and to the bands we shared the stage with. We hope you all had as much fun as we did!

2007-02-24: Putting an end to tainted vodka!

Attention citizens of Ottawa, Toronto, and Oshawa.  To put a final end to the threat of Commie-tainted vodka, the boys in the Syndicate labs have developed a new sonic technology that dissolves the chemical composition of any affected vodka.  The Reverb Syndicate has embedded this technology in the sonic fabric of a number of NEW SONGS!  The Commodore has given us permission to test these new songs and their powers in three cities this week.   If you live in any of the following cities, your attendance is strongly encouraged at the identified venue:

Wed, Feb 28: Zaphod Beeblebrox (Ottawa) with Lipstick Machine ($6 at the door) EARLY SHOW, BANDS START AT 9 PM, DONE BY 11PM

Thurs, Mar 1: Sneaky Dee's (Toronto) with Lipstick Machine (PWYC)

Fri, Mar 2: The Velvet Elvis (Oshawa) with The Robots, The Recroom, and Silent Seymour

Should these missions be a success, we can finally put an end to the evil plans of BF-6, once and for all.  We hope to see you there!

2007-01-28: "I Am the New Number Two" Animated Video

We've just put up the music video for "I Am the New Number Two", as seen on the limited Reverb Syndicate DVD given away at our Irene's show in December. The video was created by the uber-multi-talented Ben Stanford, who was also responsible for the animated intro to the site, as well as the overall site design itself. Enjoy!

2007-01-15: Videos Galore!

Commodore 64 has posted top-secret video footage of The Reverb Syndicate's recent show at the Blacksheep Inn in Wakefield up on the internet for all to see. Head on over to the Visual Stimulation page to see The Reverb Syndicate perform two album tracks, a brand new song, and an energy-filled cover of Intoxica!

Thanks to everyone who came up to Wakefield to see us - we hope you had as fun a time as we did! Things will be quiet for the next little while as we focus on writing new material, but keep an eye out on the Missions page for details of an Ottawa show and a few out-of-towners later this winter!

2006-12-29: Saving the World in Wakefield!

The Reverb Syndicate have just received word that evil is lurking up in the Gatineau hills! Reports from our underground contacts suggest that the vodka-lacing Russians have infiltrated the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield! In order to free the town from evil, The Reverb Syndicate will be drenching the stage with reverb on Friday, January 12th. Also on the bill are Ottawa's Evil Farm Children. Be sure to come out for the band's Blacksheep Inn debut!

2006-12-18: Have a Syndicated New Year!

Just a brief note from Syndicate HQ that The Reverb Syndicate will be playing Zaphod Beeblebrox's annual New Years Eve spectacular! The Reverb Syndicate hit the stage at 9pm sharp. Other bands that night include The Sick Fits, Travel By Owl, and Amos The Transparent. Tickets are $15 in advance at the club, $20 at the door.

2006-12-14: Reverb is the Reason for the Season

Friendly Reminder!  The Reverb Syndicate's special Xmas show is this Saturday Dec 16th, with special guests The Solid Senders and The Havocs!  Come early and move to the sounds!  Or if you have an Xmas party that night, come late and join your favourite group of Super-Spies as they rock Irene's pub (885 Bank St) back to the stone-age!

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, COME TO PICK UP YOUR FREE DVD!

That's right, as our gift to you, Syndicate labs has whipped up a stellar little present for our friends, fans, and families!  This DVD has music videos, a tour diary, and other fun things.  It is our gift to you, just for supporting us.  Supplies are limited so make sure you come out to get one!  Doors at 9 PM, Cover is $6 at the door.

2006-11-22: An Evening of Xmas Espionage!

After some much needed R 'n' R, The Reverb Syndicate are back to fight the forces of evil and bring hip swinging rock and roll to the masses!  Here are the most recent developments...

First on the agenda: December 16th at Irene's Pub in the Glebe.   CLEAR YOUR CALENDERS!  The Reverb Syndicate are honoured to present to you an Evening of Xmas Espionage.  A thank you of sorts, for making our first year of active duty in Ottawa so memorable.   Over the past few weeks we've been developing a little present for our friends and fans.  Here's a hint.  It involves a series of moving pictures, and you've seen some of his work before.  On top of this, to support the show, we've assembled a fabulous group of bands that we know you'll enjoy.  The Solid Senders (think the Detroit Cobras but without the nasty chemical dependencies) and Sudbury's own working class heroes The Havocs (think the MC5 with a touch of Soul) will be on hand to spread some Xmas spirit. THIS WILL BE MORE FUN THAN YOUR OFFICE PARTY!  WE PROMISE!

In other news....

As part of his Commodore 64-ordered Anger Management Training, The Fixer will be showing his softer side this Saturday night in an effort to help the less fortunate.  His other group, Mile Over Mecca (along with F!ght F!ght F!ght and Ana Miura), will be playing the FEED THE HOMELESS III Annual Christmas Benefit Concert this Saturday night at Zaphod Beeblebrox.  Agent Sovtek will also be on hand that night to play a little keys with MOM, and to make sure the Fixer completes his ordered training.  The show is hosted by CBC's Alan Neal.  A compilation for the same cause will also be on sale that night.  The CD features some of Ottawa's best bands like MOM, the Hilotrons, and the Acorn.  Proceeds for the night go towards sponsoring the Christmas dinner for the homeless at the Shepherd's of Good Hope shelter.

2006-10-26: More from Radioland

Again breaking cover (why does he always do this?!?), Agent Ampeg will be talking to some "Middle Aged Bald Guys (Talkin' Rock 'n' Roll)" this coming weekend. Tune in to CFRA 580AM in Ottawa this Sunday (Oct 29) from 7pm to 9pm to hear what he has to say.

2006-10-14: Developments...

Two small updates. First, our debut album, "Operation: Jet Set!" is now available from iTunes stores around the world and Amazon.com! Just search for us, and you'll find it. Second, we've uploaded a couple of videos to the Lab from our recent show at The Rainbow Bistro. Thanks again to everyone who came out!

2006-10-05: A Note from The Commodore

Thank you to everyone who's come out in the past few months to see The Reverb Syndicate. They've fought off droves of carnies, saved the world in 72 hours, played live on the wireless, released their debut LP, and duked it out with The Havocs in a monumental battle of Ontario!

As you can imagine, it's time for The Reverb Syndicate to get some much-needed R'n'R. I've sent the boys back to the lab to hone up on some of the latest spy gadgets and wizardry. But they won't be gone for too long - check back soon for details of a December show!

Signed,
The Commodore

2006-09-27: Hippies & Mods

Our hats are off to you.  On behalf of the Commodore, the boys in the lab, the Soviet Sisters, and everybody here at Syndicate HQ, allow us to offer our deepest thanks for the warm reception you gave the boys during the CD release party last Saturday night.  Our Agents have been involved in 105mph car chases through the streets of London and chased across the frozen arctic by evil  foreign agents, but they have never felt so energized as they did this past Saturday.  The show was a smashing success and to you we owe our thanks. See the Lab for pictures of the show.

But our work isn't over yet.

The Commodore has us ready for one more mission before some much needed R'n'R.  On Wednesday October 4th, at the Rainbow Bistro, The Reverb Syndicate will be investigating one of Ottawa's longest running and most well known establishments.  The mission?  To see if a "Blues Bar" can make a half decent Cosmopolitan.  Dubbed the "Hippies + Mods = Tru Luv 4 Eva" show, local hug dispensers Mile Over Mecca will open the show.  Rumor has it that even The Fixer drops his scowling demeanor to get down with these guys.

As well, making the trip down Highway 17, and members the Syndicate's "Garage Rock and Soul" division, are The Havocs.  We met The Havocs while we were playing at the Townehouse Tavern in Sudbury, and they dropped the rock a la MC5s with a touch of Stooges and a little bit of Kinks and Otis Redding for good measure.

The Reverb Syndicate will play two sets: one for the working crowd who have to be up early the next day, and one for the drinking crowd who like to stay out late.

What: The Reverb Syndicate with Mile Over Mecca and The Havocs
When: Wednesday, October 4th.  First band at 9:30pm
Where: The Rainbow Bistro, 76 Murray St in the Market
How Much: Pay what you can

After this, it's undercover work until probably December, so get your last fix of reverb before the Holidays!

2006-09-21: Drawing the Lines Between Good & Evil

You know it's out there.  A select number of you even have them in your home hi-fi players already.  We've tested samples in cities across the province, and have been met with many positive responses.  In fact, it has already gone international (our American distribution sold out in the first five days and several copies have made it overseas).  Now it is time to make it official for the hometown crowd.  This Saturday Sept 23 at Zaphod's Beeblebrox, come celebrate the official release of "Operation: Jet Set!", the debut CD from The Reverb Syndicate.  We've recruited The Solid Senders to open the show, a group of certified, bad to the bone, booty shakers.  They'll be dropping some solid 60's R'n'B / garage, so be sure to get your dancing shoes warmed up.  There will be dancing.  Oh yes, there will be dancing.

In other developments, check out The Reverb Syndicate's recent appearance on CBC Radio One's "Ottawa Morning" in the Lab, as well as some recent press articles from the Sun, Citizen, and Chart.

Finally, we've updated the site with some photos from our show in Sudbury. Thanks to everyone who came out - we had a blast!

2006-09-13: Live on the Wireless... Again.

Again breaking cover, Reginald Goodthrust (Agent Ampeg) spoke to Alan Neal  from CBC Radio One to promote the new record and discuss The Reverb Syndicate's original radio drama that we performed live on CKCU last month (available as a download in the Lab).

2006-09-03: Announcing ... The Reverb Syndicate's CD Release Show!

That's right folks. For just one night, The Reverb Syndicate will be stepping away from saving the world to present to you, our loyal fans, our brand new debut album, Operation: Jet Set! Mark your calendars for September 23rd, at Zaphod's Beeblebrox. Joining The Reverb Syndicate will be Ottawa rock'n'rollers The Solid Senders!

One week prior to the show, we'll be warming up in Sudbury, playing at The Townehouse with The Havocs and John Dye and Johnny Wakeham.

2006-08-29: 72 Hours Later...

Well, we think we might have pulled it off! Indeed, it appears that The Reverb Syndicate has managed, in just 72 short hours, to save the world (you're still sitting there, aren't you?). We're now back from an amazing whirlwind tour of Southern Ontario, and had the chance to play with some truly amazing bands over the past few days. We've put some pictures up for you all to check out in the Lab section. Thanks again to all the bands with whom we had the pleasure of sharing the stage; you guys rocked!

2006-08-25: Hour 0 of "72 Hours to Save the World"

The Reverb Syndicate played CKCU Radio last night, performing a full set of music as well as an exclusive radio drama! Go to the Audio Stimulation page to download the play. And thanks to everyone who phoned in with questions!

According to the Commodore, a number of evil secret agents are posing as carnies at this year's Super Ex.  Their evil goal is to lure the unsuspecting visitors from Perth and Smith Falls into playing their obviously-rigged midway games while reinforcing the stereotypical preference for country music.

Posing as traveling minstrels, The Reverb Syndicate will be battling this menace by dispensing liberal doses of reverb-drenched rock and roll from the Pizza Pizza Stage this Friday night starting at 10 pm.

So come on down for some childish fun this Friday (admission to the Ex is $10).   Ride the Scrambler!  Win a giant stuffed panda bear for your significant other at the ring toss!  But most importantly, help us battle the forces of evil at 10 PM!

2006-07-27

Thanks to everyone who came out to the show on Saturday! We've updated the Lab, so go on over there to see some pictures of the Reverb Syndicate in action over the past few weeks.

News on our album and t-shirts will come shortly... In the meantime, check out our Coordinates page to sign up for The Reverb Syndicate email list.

We have nearly completed work in the lab. Check back soon for updates on the new LP! Oh, and we have a new website! All hail Commodore 64!

Well, we warned you that we suspected double-agents from behind the Iron Curtain at our June 12th show, and sure enough, the Reds from the west (but not from the Iron Curtain, surprisingly enough) showed up to sabotage our mission. But we prevailed! A special extra thank you goes out to The Sleepless Nights from Halifax who flew in last minute to save the day! Check the Mission log for several more important updates.

And thank you to everyone who came out for the June 12th show at Zaphod's Beeblebrox. You're all super-awesome!
